Fenwick news week beginning 8th Feb. 2010
First of all belated welcome to Brian Douglas and Brian O'Neill who are the new tenants of the Kings Arms. I will be adding to this information later on in the week but the mention of the Kings Arms reminds me to give you a wee bit of news re a former founder member of the Rupert the Bear gang i.e. Big John Oliver who is now the Community Correspondent of s1darvel.com. He was telling me he started along with John, David, and David to revisit their favourite watering hole of a Friday night as has been their tradition for time long gone. So if your fingers are tired or you need an excuse you could tell her or him indoors you have bit of news about Darvel you have to get to John urgently? Hey ho, Sandy's bit of bad health advice?
Dates for your diaries re the School: Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd of February the School is running its own Fenwick Festival of Scottish Poetry, Song and Music which will be a competition involving all the classes in the school. Entry forms must be handed to Mrs Ayre by this Thursday 11th of Feb.
Parents are welcome to attend the festival and Mrs Ayre will issue a timetable detailing when each class will perform.
Definitely a treat is in store for the members of the Fulton Club as on Wednesday the 24th of Feb the winners will be entertaining them.
Also this week re the school it will close at 3pm on Thursday 11th February for the mid term. Alas the teachers do not get a long break as they are back on Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th for in service days. The lucky pupils get the extra days to help their mums and dads and return to school at 9am on Thursday 18th. So to restate, pupils are off from 3pm on the Thursday 11th till 9am on the Thursday the 18th
The Christmas Fayre raised a fantastic amount of £1473, well done everybody involved.
The School is very appreciative of everybody's support and understanding over the recent problems it had with its water and heating supplies.
Bit of advance notice if in these days of the credit crunch you are wanting to get away for a break: the school Easter break is from 2.30pm on Thursday 1st of April until Tuesday the 20th of April for the pupils with the poor teachers having to return for another of those in service days on the 19th of April. Plus May Day this year for the school is on Monday the 3rd of May.
