7/2/2010Fenwick Brownies, Girl Guides and more

Fenwick Brownies are learning to knit and make squares for blankets for charity as part of the Girl Guiding Centenary Challenge. If you can help with a supply of double knitting wool it would be greatly appreciated. Donations of wool can be left in the church hall labelled "Brownies".

Also praise should be given to the Guides who are taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award well done and keep going. I know if you can maybe hide your shyness the rest of Fenwick would love to hear how you are doing and as well we would be interested on what is involved in actually doing your Duke of Edinburgh. Seriously I for one am ignorant of what exactly is involved in the award but I have spoken to many who have taken part in camping and long rambling treks and though some have said it was tough every one of them said they would not have missed it.

I have nothing but praise for the leaders of all the youth organisations. Many people think that, and this applies whether you live in our area or anywhere else, these organisations run by themselves but I know it takes a lot of effort and time. Whether you are running the Guides, the Church, Gala Day or as I say whatever it can sometimes feel like a thankless task but your efforts are appreciated and I wish I had a magic wand that I could wave and you would be run over with help but alas I do not have that wand. It is up to the people of Fenwick, Waterside, Moscow and North Kilmarnock to supply that help even one night's help or selling some tickets, we can all do our bit for this community.

Have your say:
