Provost Stephanie Young's chosen charity launches website

Finding out how you can help Combat Stress, Provost Stephanie Young's chosen charity this year, couldn't be easier following the launch of a new website.

www.provostcharity.com features all of the latest news about how money is being raised for Combat Stress, the leading charity specialising in the care of British Veterans who have been profoundly traumatised by harrowing experiences during their Service career.

The site tells you how you can donate money to the charity and a 'totaliser' on display on each page shows how much has been raised so far as the Provost strives to reach the target of £25,000. There's also a section on upcoming events such as a Charity Ball which will be held in June.

All of the money raised will be used to build a new facility for the psychologist's support service at Hollybush House, one of three residential centres serving veterans from all over the United Kingdom and Eire. Facilities at the centre must be specially built or adapted to provide for those who are physically disabled.

Set in a stunning tranquil location, Hollybush House can accommodate up to 25 veterans, with additional capacity for a small number of accompanying carers. Veterans are admitted for short stays of up to two weeks at a time, although this may vary according to individual need.

Provost Young said: "This website is a good way of giving people the latest information about what we're doing to raise money for this important charity. People can check the website regularly and see the current running total and find out how they can get involved in the events that will be coming up over the next few months. I hope everyone will do whatever they can to help."

Sandy Scott says

At a time when the media is full on, with did Mr Brown give enough money? or not for the war it is refreshing to see our local councilor highlight, an all to easily forgotten about, very serious illness for the soldiers in a war situation. These guys do not have bandages or crutches to show for their wounds and also this illness is extremely hard for the soldiers loved ones to live with. So well done Stephanie for highlighting this charity. Please give Stephanie your support and if any one else is reading this log on to the web site above.
