Mongol Rally

Well, seems in my absence from the scene this last week we have had a meerkat moment ie "the mogal Rally"  is Jamie from ex "Kings arms" now "gifts for you" and Waterside who along with Jennie and Mark set off for The Mogal dessert as part of the Mogal 500 charity fund raser O.K? good! The other team was the group representing the church and Fenwick who were carrying on the ongoing work in suport of the Tsunami devastated area of Colombo in Sri Lanka ( they are all now safely back from Sri Lanka).

So let us not forget that, after Jennie and Mark left Jamie in Prague, as by prior arrangement may I add,Young Jamie still trundles on with an increasingly sick mini bus (The sliding door has slid right off and the rear suspension has joined Jamie in the inside of the bus instead of outside)Horrendous road conditions. They are soo bad Glasgow city council are out checking them to see if they can be adopted along with their own pot holes?.Extreem weather, soo hot the Meerkats are not even selling insurance.With tiredness being the eternal problem on such a long drive.

On a serious note. This is not just an adventure but an extreemly dangerous trek where sadly to report one of the other team,s members has lost their life! I beleive they were from America or Canada. So we must surelly be proud of Jamie as he continues to amaze us with his resilience and endevour as he continues. Jamie we salute you!

Sadly to say for the first time in the rally history, a participant has lost their life. The team was infact a scottish team and our thoughts and prayers are with their family and friends involved.

Thank you for that Lynn, I have just read some more about the sad death of Alan Fowler, who hailed from my old stomping grounds of Newlands in Glasgow. The article is in today's Sunday Mail.

Speaking on behalf of s1fenwick and our comunitty likewise, our prayers and thoughts are with Alan,s familly and friends.
