Future Fenwick group aims to keep community informed

  • The site of a proposed scheme by Mansell Homes to build 65 houses

Many residents have been surprised at the scale and number of new housing developments which are being planned for the villlage.

To help keep people informed members of the community have agreed to produce a news-sheet and have started a Facebook Page which can be found at http://www.facebook.com/note.php?created&&note_id=157409767645885#!/

Updates and news will also be posted on this website.

The aim is to give information about new developments and keep people informed about what the groups such as the Community Council is doing in terms of ensuring the character of the current village is ratained.

Sandy Scott says

Gordon I trust that you and the committee will continue to keep s1 fenwick up to date as well. s1 fenwick has over the last year built up a regular and loyal large body of readers, and yes I for one, am all for keeping people informed hence I have repeatedly publicised the Covenanter and Kilmarnock Standard as a means to assist this end.

I said at the meeting that we had a communitty site already in place for the community and I was led to believe that the facebook site was to be opened for the sub committee to be able to comunicate amongst itself without fear of being logged into by outside parties, not to set up as another community site. S1 is open to the whole community, not just for the Skerniland project, but all items of interest in the Community.

The different organizations are putting a lot of work into having a one shop calendar for the social life in this area rather than have numerous sites all round cyber space.. My question is are we now going to have a new web page for every eventuallity in our community.

Greta Roberts says

I welcome the idea of a newsheet, but unsure about facebook.

If the new Group wishes to 'discuss' some particular issue and plan some campaign;  then simply emailing those group- members would be just as easy.

Agree with Sandy Scott that there is already a means of general communication to local people with internet access: ie: the S1 Fenwick web-site.
