5/2/2010Fenwick tennis courts pay back big time

Fantastic news to hear how well Ewan Moore is progressing at tennis. (The Kilmarnock Standard has an article about him this week.)

For those people who did not know Ewan and his family, they used to live in Raith Road. Dad Davie, mum Morag and of course his brother Andrew. The village must be fair chuffed to hear of Ewan's success in tennis at winning the South of Scotland under 11s, the West of Scotland under 11s, Ayrshire under 12s, plus Scotland and North of England under 12s.

This wee human dynamo is also excelling at football with various teams and his other interests are swimming, basketball and golf. Thank goodness his mum and dad are fit as well to keep up with him and support him in his endeavours.

One of the nice things when you hear this kind of news makes you reflect that but for the late Robert Loudon who started a movement to have a tennis court for everybody in Fenwick, Jimmy Murdoch who lit the fire and really got things going would we have had this facility in Fenwick. It also shows that when Fenwick decides to do something it gets done. But there is someone else I would like to mention and that is the quiet dedicated man Angus Rodger who gave up his time to give anyone who was interested in tennis help in bringing their game on with a concentration on the youth of the village.

So thank you Ewan and your family for making Fenwick proud.

Just a footnote re Ewan's success: His achievements, I have no doubt, are a combination of raw inborn talent and to be admired long hours of practice, but alas in the world we live in where money is thrown at nonentities falling drunk out of cars at gatherings of the stars families like Ewan's have to work extremely hard to support their children. So on behalf of the Moore family I have included a sponsorship email address for them if anyone or even any business would like to sponsor a growing talent of the future! The email address is dandmmoore@btinternet.com
Congratulations to Ewan for his his success at Tennis. What the article did not say was the money to build the Tennis Court was raised by the Fenwick Community Assosiation and the people of Fenwick. The Association continues to raise funds for projects to benefit Fenwick.
